This Thursday, we’re excited to welcome Norwegian scriptwriter, director, and actress Jeanne Bøe, who is currently touring the U.S. with her new film Oxblood. We will screen the film, and Bøe will share emigration stories, including her own family’s migration journey from Serkeland in Siljan to America. She will also reflect on cultural heritage and its significance for all of us. A Q&A session will follow.

OKSEBLOD (Oxblood) is a short film about a father and daughter on a dairy farm in rural Norway. A family has toiled, lived, cried, and watched the sun rise and the rain fall over the fields and meadows for generations. It is a story of vulnerability and tradition, of people and livestock, and of surviving side by side with what puts food on the table. The film takes place over a few short summer weeks when the adult daughter Ingrid returns home, while her father Oscar struggles to keep the farm going as age begins to take its toll.
